Timing Card Laminate

For some mountaineers these are essential items. They can mean the difference between a headache and becoming seriously 'navigationally misplaced'.
The answer?

A timing card

Simple, logical and very useful; keep them attached to your compass lanyard for easy access. Each side has a different method to use when calculating route timings. Play with both and find out which works best for you!

Instructions

  • Simply click on the link above and print straight off.
  • Cut out both navigation methods in one long strip.
  • Fold in half so that Method A shows on one side and Method B on the other.
  • Trim as appropriate and glue together.
  • Laminate or cover in clear sticky-backed plastic (Blue Peter special, available from Woolworths etc.).
  • Ensure you leave a good 3mm around the edge and more where you want to punch a hole for the lanyard.
