COURSE INFORMATION AND BOOKING FORM

Mountain Instruction provides personalised, high quality and inspirational mountain skills instruction and guiding in the English Lake District and throughout the U.K.

Why choose Mountain Instruction?

All instructors and guides employed by Mountain Instruction are
fully qualified, experienced and enthusiastic.

Course dates, duration and content are determined in partnership with you. Mountain Instruction deliberately does not advertise open courses on set dates. Learning with friends can be beneficial and sometimes essential, however sharing a course with strangers who might have different expectations and skill levels could be at the very least extremely disappointing. Your course with Mountain Instruction is your course and designed to meet your expectations, learning style(s) and future outdoor aspirations.

The courses advertised include all instruction and guiding, technical and safety equipment. In addition to the course price is your personal equipment, food, accommodation and accident/cancellation/property insurance.

Click here for a kit list of the equipment needed for your course.

Your accommodation during a course is more important than many people imagine. What happens at the end of the day to help you relax and reflect can be as important as the course itself. Any recommendations regarding accommodation are taken very seriously to ensure you are properly watered, fed and recovered, irrespective of your budget.

Whilst Mountain Instruction is covered by public liability and indemnity insurance, it is recommended that clients take out appropriate insurance covering personal injury, course cancellation and loss or damage of personal property. Recommended is the cover offered by the British Mountaineering Council

The outdoors is heavily dependent upon suitable weather and ground conditions. It can determine your course venue and what you learn. Mountain Instruction will endeavour to provide a suitable learning environment and structure to your course, although short notice changes might be necessary.

Mountain Instruction has extensive experience of providing mountain and outdoor activities for clients of all ages and abilities. However any person booking a course must be 18 years old at the time of booking. Young clients aged 14 to 18 are more than welcome, but must be accompanied by a participating parent or guardian. If you feel you have extra needs and requirements, that’s fine; simply contact us for more information.

Fitness is a common question and one person’s ‘fit’ is another person’s ‘shattered’!! If you are capable of completing a gentle day walk then you are fit enough for many of the courses available. Remember that the course is tailored to your needs and abilities and is flexible. Nothing is ‘fixed in stone’. Winter courses however, are longer in duration and physically and mentally more challenging. For these you need to be a regular hill walker as a minimum.

Your course will only be booked upon receipt of a written booking form and a deposit of £50 per day booked. The balance is due 28 days before your course start date.

As stated above all course prices exclude your personal equipment, food, accommodation and accident / cancellation / property insurance. Through completing and signing a booking form you are recognising that mountaineering, climbing and adventurous activities are inherently hazardous and that you accept the risk of personal accident, injury or death. You are therefore aware of and accept these risks, will abide by the instructions of your instructor/guide and are responsible for your own actions and involvement. You also agree that you are in good health and fit enough for your chosen course.
